Daily Prompt: Do you have a favorite quote that you return to again and again? What is it, and why does it move you?
When I read the Daily Prompt today I immediately thought of my favorite quotation above. This quote inspires me so much. When I first read this Deepak Chopra quote it was as though someone flicked the light switch on for me. I don’t have a box to think inside of now. I think whatever I want to think. My mind may drift everywhere and anywhere it wants to go. As human beings it is our prerogative to go wherever we want to with our thoughts and no one needs to know where.
It helps me so much with the work that I do in the sense that I can create mind images which I transfer to the project I’m working on at the time.
Needless to say I can’t stand it when people use “think outside the box” because to my mind that sentence implies that humans can only think within a certain space and have to be told or trained to think outside of it – it insults the wonderful creativity and ingenuity of the human mind.
you would be surprised at how many people prefer to think inside the box. It’s a safe haven, where they know everything.
To take yourself out of that can be quite daunting. Until you get the hang of it and then it’s all good.
Good quote Esperanza 😉
Well, of course, you make sense. And what other quote could I use except:
“It all works out in the end; if it hasn’t worked out, it isn’t the end.”

This prompted a pause for some consideration and thought. As opposed to your thoughtful quote it seems that the phrase “think outside the box” is a slogan and is sometimes used in a somewhat patronizing, demeaning way.
In other words, as Neo says in “The Matrix:” “There is no spoon.” This world can be whatever we want to make of it. Another great post. You seem to have a habit of doign that. 😉
My husband had a quote that has really meant a lot to me all during my life.
‘ You are in control of your own thought’s’ Taking note of that can really help
a person’
Your quote is excellent. I like. xx
You always do! That is what makes you special! I believe in you, the whole of you….you are a dear blessing with all that you bring to us! And it is just not words…you are beautifully beautiful! So smile always my dear sister!
Great quote, Hope. Unfortunately schools do the opposite and they should encourage pupils to think for themselves as they get older and not to always accept what they are told.
That’s a wonderful quote and you made so much sense when you said that we are restricting the creativity of the mind when we say “think outside the box”.
From what i know through your posts you make sense all the time, atleast to me. 🙂 Not just with this post. Sorry if it got interpreted the wrong way.
No, not at all Muzer. I understand what you said, no apologies necessary…I was worried that I wouldnt make sense because I had trouble writing this post, I was battling to get my meaning across, that is why I am happy with the comments that affirmed that I was in fact making sense. 🙂 *big hugs* xx
Big hugs to you too.. Thanks.. 🙂
🙂
This is one of my favorite quotes! I read Deepak’s “The Path To Love” and it literally changed my life.
I do like your quote. i must remember to pass it along the next I hear someone say “let’s think outside the box”. Thanks for visiting and the like of my Weekly Photo Challenge post representing “Beyond”.

Oh, I love this! I don’t think in a box unless I have to, boxes are dull.
That they are, Art, and mostly made from dull brown cardboard – we don’t need the boxes…

I love your reason for not liking this quote, Hopestar. 🙂 Good post. Hugs to you.
