One of the programs I often watch is called “Gold Rush” on the Discovery Channel. I watch it not so much for the actual struggle to find gold, but to watch the people. One of the groups I find quite interesting to watch has a young man of 18 as the manager. This I found quite unusual that such a young man should be running the show, but now, in this episode the young man somehow got the excavator digging machine stuck. No problem though because the grandfather saved the day. Also no problem for the grandfather being 91 years old, he just popped into the bulldozer, gave grandson instructions and pulled the huge excavation machine out. Yes, the grandpa is 91 years old. After he had successfully saved the day for his grandson, he said he is off for a nap… This blew my mind a little.
Once again I began thinking about age. Age is truly relative. You get some young people who truly seem to have old souls(that’s for another post though) and then you get older people who keep their minds and bodies so active it’s amazing. Age is not only just so much your body, age is also to do with your mind and soul too and how we nurture ourselves. Never judge a person by the age they look, you may be in for a huge surprise…
Oh heavens no! I don’t have DSTV – the family does – that’s where I catch snippits of what they’re watching.
If not for their TV being on 24/7, I would never see any TV at all!!
It’s now officially a year since i sat down in my house in front of the TV to watch a show of any kind 😉
I LOVE the picture. Awesome picture and your post is so true. My mom always would say, “I look in the mirror and think, ‘Who is that old woman looking back at me?'” She always told me, age in just a state of mind. This from a 68 year old woman who broke her wrist sliding into home plate during a softball game with her grandchildren. LOL.

:-), I’m based in Canberra Australia. I would love to visit South Africa one day. I should’ve gone there when there was the World Cup last year, but I couldn’t. But one day I will!
The beaches here are pristine and the lands are mesmerizing. So let me know if you’re planning to visit Down Under! 🙂

Age is a number only. It’s what is in your heart and mind that gives you the label. And there’s that lovely song: Forever young…
Love that song and so true Amos.

Think I saw a bit of that one – at least where they tried to get the buckets out of the water.
An active body hosts an active mind and soul…
Ah, so you alo watch it ghiatjie 🙂

My 77 year old mother-in-law is a riot! She also loves being ‘foonky’ – her Italianised ‘funky’!
