I would clone…

(a random photo of people in the streets of Amsterdam)
The Daily Prompt:
If you could clone one element from another city you’ve visited — a building, a cultural institution, a common street food, etc. — and bring it back to your own hometown, what would it be?
I would most definitely love to clone the bicycle riding in Amsterdam as well as the lovely well-mannered people.  I love Amsterdam.  Most of the areas I was in were really clean too.  Cycling has so many advantages; good for health, exercise and also much less exhaust fumes from cars of course.
In fact, I’d like to just take the whole city of Amsterdam and place it somewhere here in South Africa 🙂 Did I say I love Amsterdam, well, I’ll say it again.

On my bicycle…

Have you made your bucket list? Now’s the time — write about the things you want to do and see before you become dust in the wind.

Throughout the years I have been much of an armchair traveler – and also a traveler in books.  My favourite programs are the travel ones, so it was quite amazing, and I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to travel outside of Africa.
Last year my family and I had the opportunity to visit family in Germany, whilst there we had the chance to visit a few other places.  I have realised that I now actually have a bit of a travel bug.  I want to travel and see as many places as I possibly can.  I absolutely adored Amsterdam and London, and would love to go back there again for a second visit, although there are also many more other places waiting for me…

I am so mad!

My mom is and elderly lady in her seventies, who has only a few prized possessions.  She is not poor, but also definitely not rolling in dough.  She makes ends meet.  She had a few special little things that she considered to be luxuries, such as a laptop, cell phone and a new TV.
A few days ago, “they” broke into her house which she shares with another elderly person.  The house is very modest.  From the outside one would not think that there are great treasures to be found there.   Stealing from any category of wealth is wrong, but even more wrong is when the thieves are stealing from the vulnerable who work at keeping their heads above the water.
I am so grateful that my mom was not at home when they broke in.  I have replaced her cell phone, which she has accepted, but simply point blank refuses help with the other things.  I will keep an eye on that, and fortunately Christmas is around the corner.  Santa might surprise her with an item or two.
I read just recently that The Netherlands have closed, or are in the process of closing quite a few of their prisons due to a shortage of prisoners.  I can hear the wise cracks about it’s because weed is legal there.  Edit:  I was wondering what they had done right, but have edited since angelswhisper’s comment – please see her comment in the comments section.
