Woman under the tree

Today’s Prompt: When you gaze out your window — real or figurative — do you see the forest first, or the trees?

There was a short story I read once, about two years ago.  It was about a woman who sat under a tree reading a book.  There was a man who wanted to walk around the world to get away from her – I think, if I remember correctly – he walked right around the world and ended up under that tree, where the woman was still sitting reading her book.

That story stuck in my mind for some reason, and I think it is because I feel like that woman under the tree.  People will need me, and there will be a time that they will not need me, but when they do need me again, I will be there and they will know where to find me…

Sometimes, I gaze out of my window and daydream about someone who might walk right around the whole world…and remember me, and will come to find me, there, under the tree…

  3. I always tend to see the details, so I would see the tree, I think. If you were there, I know I would see you. I hope your someone does walk around the world for you; you deserve that.

  4. What a beautiful photo! I enjoyed your post and your message. Some do come around again. Some don’t, and sometimes that’s ok too. It makes room for others to be in our lives and hearts.

  8. You wrote it so beautifully Hope. Yes, funny enough, people know where to find you quickly enough when they need you. Thanks for sharing hon. 🙂 *big hugs*

  9. Thanks for including the song – this is the absolute favorite of my middle daughter.

I worked with someone who only saw the dirt and the rocks, forget about trees or a forest- I couldn’t get over how focused on doom and gloom this person was. They were completely surrounded by love and support, but refused to see it.
