(This is a pic of His Royal Highness getting ready to pounce, thought I’d share it again)
Can anything be funny, or are some things off limits?
In my opinion, there are most definitely limits. I don’t like hearing jokes about starving people or jokes about people with handicaps or health problems. Often there will be a barrage of jokes about a tragic event. I have often wondered about this. Why and how do people come up with jokes about these things. Is it a sort of coping mechanism for some? I don’t know.
I have also heard comedians doing their comic act and their poor wives get torn apart by their husband, the comedian. Yes, it is funny often, but I don’t think it’s so funny for the wife even though it is all said in jest. You know the old idiom : ”There’s many a true word said in jest.” It’s also almost the same as on the net when people have nasty things to say and then you find them type a “LOL” or a smiley face after the comment. That doesn’t work for me.
Now, I must admit to you that the other night someone sent me a joke in the form of an SMS, it was not a PC joke, but it was hilariously funny. So there I was , howling with laughter, face in my pillow trying not to wake the rest of the household…,and no, I simply cannot repeat the joke. Unfortunately or fortunately, I have a really wicked sense of humour – but then again, I know where to draw the line.
