A 10 minute quickie and the worst post I’ve ever written …

Daily Prompt: Set a timer for ten minutes. Open a new post. Start the timer, and start writing. When the timer goes off, publish.

Here goes:

First I had to find a timer and then realized that I have one on my cell phone.  I now know how to use that function which is quite simple really.  I only realised now how long I takes when I write stuff, how many interruptions I have and how much I rely on my spell check…

I cant shake this headache.  Its is really super bad. Started yesterday and I had a really bad night with it, kept waking up in a fright, maybe dreaming, I really don’t know.   My little daughter came and told me I look as though I’ve been crying because my eyes are very red, but it is to do with the headache.  Suppose its time to visit the old physician again so that he can check all the meds.  I kept telling them all I have a headache, but they expect me to just keep on keeping on, I mean, do people realize that other people are also just human…I’m just a human being not a blooming superwoman.

I’m hoping to go to the seaside some time or other.   Hope that hope materializes soon, because I would love to just sit and watch the waves lapping on the beach whilst children play.   I realize this must be super boring because nothing is planned.  I’m just writing and writing, wishing that darn ten minutes would be over so that I can stop now.  Quick peek, no darn it, still another four minutes to go…

Looks like rain.  I jolly well hope so, it’ll cool this area down a little and the grass would love it.  Now little one wants ice cream and my 10 minutes is still not finished.  This is a really long 10 minutes…come on timer, beep now, OK then beep now…oh come on beep darn it!  26 seconds left…almost there, almost and finish!

  1. You seem to be in a constant state of recovery like Vincent van Gogh. (See my posts)
    Think I’m in good company…

  2. That has a certain spontaneity about it (!) Sorry about your wretched headache – you should have it checked. By the way is that one of your paintings? I don`t think I`ve ever seen your work.

  3. If you have a little girl, you need to pack a picnic lunch and haul her off to the beach to make sand castles. Find the time, time passes by so quickly when you have children.
Your post made me smile, especially the bit about the timer – there’s one at the bottom right hand corner of the computer screen. I loved that painting.

    • Thanks, on the computer screen you say? will check. We live about 1000 kilometers inland so a special week must be taken to go to the beach and I will take your advice and do just that with the picnic basket :)
      *Hugs*

  4. Planning a seaside holiday could be a headache on its own :-) I like your timer idea. I’m trying to write a book, and everything keeps on dragging my attention away! Hope you feel better very soon. Anders gaan lê met ‘n asynlappie op die voorkop!

  5. A very honest post, Hopestar, even if it’s not the best one you’ve ever written. :) Sorry about the headache and bad dreams, and hope you get it sorted out quickly; red eyes are not very becoming. Hugs to you.

  11. Try catnip tea for your sleeplesness and dreams. Yes. Really. Take two tablespoons of catnip, wrap it in a coffee filter. Twist it to seal it. Put it in a cup and add hot water. After it stteps for about 5 minutes, add some honey. It will relax you, let you fall asleep naturally, and help calm your nerves

  12. Hi hugs* I’ve heard that if you wake up with a headache it does’nt get better during the day. That of course are the worst headache’s. Years ago I also had some awfull headache’s so my doctor prescribed what he called a coctail, one stemitil, one valuim and two pain tablets, and it worked.
Yes *hugs* is’nt it strange that nobody appreciates just how horrible you feel, and never think about giving you a nice cuppa, or just saying “mom, I can see youre feeling awfull, so go en lie down. They have no idea, as youre not bleeding so theres nothing to see. I think you must try the catnip. I have never seen catnip but a “boereraad” is always better than “pille” Hope its al over now. xx

  13. Congratulations! That had to be really hard. I do love your ramblings. It feels like entering your mind and just wandering around. Sorry about the headache though – maybe a sinus infection? You are appreciated for being superwoman – at least you are appreciated in cyberspace! :)

  14. I love it when you let us in to your thoughts, Hope. This is one of the best post I’ve read EVER. Lovely. Time crawls when you watch (pun unintended) it. Otherwse it speeds by!

  15. Well done, 10 minutes and with a rotten headache! hope you’re feeling better, nothing more disheartening that your head about to explode, or is that implode? :)

  16. If we were sitting in a bar, having a beer, just shooting the breeze, I think part of the converssation would sound exactly like this, and it would be a very nice evening.

  17. Those guys at WordPress really know what they are doing, because this was a wonderful post, Esperanza. You reveal so much here that I just want to {{{Hug}}} you. I have a feeling that the ocean will heal the headache. And what a blessing your empathic daughter is.

  18. Don’t say boring and don’t say worst ever. I did one the other night that I planned and I think it was my worst. What I saw was a person trying to write when she might not have been ready to. That’s fine, at times, as it helps us understand how we can be when we do plan things. As it was, I enjoyed the post. Helps me see that I am human, too.
