Well, I read the story and basically it is about people eating each other due to their circumstances. Please click on the link to read more. WP wants to know if it is a defensible act? What would I/you have done?
This is not the first time humans have eaten each other in an attempt to survive. I find myself unable to judge their actions even though I felt repulsed whilst reading the story. I cannot say what I would have done…because I have not been in that situation.
With all of my thoughts going to and fro in my mind, only one thought seems clear to me; I don’t think they would ever have thought of doing that under normal circumstances.
I’m so fat I’d be the first one eaten so I would not be able to answer that…
LOL Bulldog, you’re a card
*hugs*
Bwahahaha.
It is almost impossible to say what anyone would do in extremis.
I quite agree.
*hugs*
Perhaps we can discuss it over dinner with my friends up in the mountains.
Donner? Party of eleve- I mean nin- um…fiv- What? They aren’t hungry anymore?
nevermind…
(Too soon?)
eeeek!
*hugs*
I daren’t read the excerpt, but if this is the story of the plane wreck in South America then I remember the enforced cannibalism. I think one would do almost anything to stay alive, even eating human flesh.
It isn’t about that particular story, but I immediately thought of that one when I read the story.
*hugs*
Have to be pretty desperate to do something so completely and utterly gross.
I’m wondering if I could even do it then. Might hurl everything I’ve eaten!!
Still, they did what they had to to stay alive – the fiercest human impulse…
It does sound terrible ghiatjie.
*hugs*
Desperate times call for desperate measures…. who knows what we are capable of if our choices are to either act or die? I’d like to say I would take the moral ground and perish but who is to say what sort of survival instincts might kick in during those long hard days. Plus… I wouldn’t want to be eaten either, so I’d have to stick around to make sure that didn’t happen.
That is so dj, we just don’t know what we would do.
*hugs*
I don’t even want to think about this, Hopestar. Who knows?
Yep, I didn’t like the prompt much today.
*hugs*
what a terrible positon to be in. I don’t think I could do it
Its a real tough one, I cant see myself doing it either Ruth.
*hugs*
How is it being served? I’ll try to keep an open mind on this one. I could not eat someone I didn’t like. I would rather die than eat someone I did like. Guess I’d just starve to death. Lovely topic!
It was not an easy prompt, art. I like what you said.
*hugs*
I found the story of the rugby team that crashed into the ANdes where members survived because they resorted to cannibalism unbelievable..
This isn’t about the same story though, but the point is that we don’t know unless we are find ourselves in that situation.
*hugs*
You see? to me your comment makes excellent sense. Who truly knows what they would do if put into certain circumstances? I cannot imagine me agreeing to killing myself, but if it was to save my children…? Who knows? I see it the same in this situation.
Scott
I’m glad you agree then Scott.
*hugs*
Thank you so much for this the most a beautiful flowers everywhere on your blog, please stop on my blog probably you like it
Thank you, I will pop over.
*hugs*
I’d rather die than resort to that!!! My faith would allow me to die in peace… better an empty belly and a full heart.
Blessings ~ Wendy
Yes, I like that Wendy. I would like to think that of myself too.
*hugs*
I don’t think we can know how we would react unless faced with the harsh reality. When I read the heading I couldn’t believe it was on your post – how un-Hope-ish! ♥
I know, I didn’t like having to do this prompt, but I have a bit of an OCD thing going with doing the prompts. I’m thinking, not that I’ve done the prompt I could delete it.
*hugs*
That’s true nobody in their right frame of mind would do that unless the circumstances push you into it. It’s sad it had to turn this way.. I can’t even think about it.. I’d hope to die maybe than eat human flesh..
Yes, I agree muZer.
*hugs*
Cannibalism one way of getting a good meal out of a bad date….. On a more serious note, I think that it’s one of those decisions that no one can really say what they’ll do until their actually faced with it…
I agree with you on that Marty.
*hugs*
I think there was a movie Alive When a person is placed in such a situation he doesn’t know how to react! And I don’t want to know
I know the feeling of not wanting to know Pamela.
*hugs*
He, he, I am keeping out of this one.
I should have too, actually…
*hugs*
